Freshmen FFA Unit: Freshmen will be rotating into the FFA unit from October 6th-27th with Mrs. Rose. Don't worry, Mrs. Rose makes this unit incredibly interesting and you won't have to sit through sub plans for a week while I'm at the National FFA Convention!
Junior Job Interview Unit: Juniors will be rotating to the Job Interview unit from October 4th-27th with Mrs. Rose. Students will create a resume, cover letter, reference list and learn how to conduct themselves during an interview.
Paul Smith's College: A recruiter from Paul Smith's College will be coming in to talk to the Juniors and Seniors on Monday. Check out the wide variety of career paths offered at this college.
Lab Animals: Since no one has been staying after... literally for anything... I'm going to make this committee a "complete on your own time" type committee. Join the Classroom site to view tasks that need to be accomplished this week! You can help out during study hall (appointment only), office hours, before school or after school (appointment only).
Wildlife Garden: Juniors have been hard at work in their wildlife management unit. Recently, they conducted a brief inventory of our wildlife garden in order to provide information for a grant. We received a $500 grant to improve our garden and establish a Monarch Recovery Garden. "The National Wildlife Federation’s (NWF) Eco-Schools USA and Schoolyard Habitats® Programs [their] affiliate, the Connecticut Forest and Park Association (CFPA) have come together with the LEGO Community Fund to work with 25 schools across Connecticut that are interested in using the environment to support science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) learning and to protect and enhance Monarch and other pollinator habitat on their school grounds."
Recruiting: Mr. Santiago is looking for people to take recruiting to West Haven on October 7th and Hamden (Date TBD). See him for more details.

Kestrel Nesting Box Kiosk: A recent graduate is looking for help putting the finishing touches on a project he completed for his Eagle Scout project. He is looking for someone to create a poster to be put up on the kiosk at a kestrel nesting box site, Farnum Field in Wallingford. "What I would want on it is some basic information about the field, who runs it (the town of Wallingford and the Wallingford Land Trust), some information about the bird, and basic stuff like diet, range, and physical description. If anyone is interested and if you think this could be a good SAE project for someone they or you can email me let me know." For more information please contact Mark Bernick (2016).
